Mary Lindsey's Campaign site....? UPDATE 2

What keywords does Mary Lindsey think you'll use to find her web page? The keywords give a peak into the platform of this still silent candidate...

Keywords content="Lake Worth, Mary Lindsey, Palm Beach County, Commissioner, COP, City of Lake Worth, District 2, Political, Take Action, Take Pride"

We think you forgot seamstress, grandma, long winded, self proclaimed expert, moody, wasted your money, voltage, and unreliable. We guess Mary wants us to "Take Action" and "Take Pride?" Really? Why don't you just take responsibility for your past behaviors and apologize to the residents of this city for stopping the utility upgrade and wasting their money!

Cara Does it Her Way...

Our research department has discovered that Com. Cara Jennings has a page on a website entitled Creative Candidates 2008. We have confirmed with Ms. Lopez, Lake Worth City Clerk, that Jennings has not declared her intent to be a candidate.
We guess following the rules is just to hard for this commissioner.

Someone from the Lindsey camp should be monitoring this type of activity. This seems like a possible violation of campaign laws.

Fat Bastard takes aim at District 2 Candidates...

In today's Lake Worth Herald former Candidate for District 2, Jim Stafford, takes aim at the remaining field. Stafford stated:

"he was particularly upset about leaving the race because of his opponents,...Both are terrible,...Neither one has Lake Worth at heart and neither one is capable of handling the problems the city is facing."
Listen up Fat Boy! We couldn't agree more!

Mary Lindsey's Campaign site....? UPDATE 1

We can only assume that Mary Lindsey's, Candidate for District 2, web designer was one of our 80 visitors yesterday. They have now changed the color of the page to blue. Much like "Dolphin Boy," it still lacks substance. Is the blue just foreshadowing of her mood the morning after the election?

Why is Mary hiding? What are her campaign managers afraid of? She has owned this domain since last October and we are less than 100 days from the election and still nothing.

SCARLET PIMPERNEL EXCLUSIVE!!

ONLY ON S.P.!

Our trusty Pimpernel paparazzi worked their telephotos off to get Lake Worth's own telegenic and titillating troubadour of tunefulness en canto, tooting another torch song to sooth the savage breast.

BEWARE!!

Some parts of that outfit may be larger than they appear. It looks like our sentimental serenader appears to possess ivy on the head - perhaps to cover male pattern baldness, but perhaps his brains took over space commonly reserved for hair roots as in other humans. We are sure if asked, he would say that it is "reminiscent of those Roman Senators of ancient times." We all know that our contemporary Senators have nothing on ancient Roman ones. We hear that this specimen can be heard at Club A.J.s on Wednesday nights. Can't this guy get a day job?

OOOOPPS! Maybe he has one, come to think of it, look at the farmer tan!

Why is the liberal media not reporting....

Why isn't the liberal media reporting that Alaska is on pace to have the coldest summer on record?

Wake up America!

From the Anchorage Daily News (http://www.adn.com)

Gloomy summer headed toward infamy

CHILLY: Anchorage could hit 65 degrees for fewest days on record.

By GEORGE BRYSONgbryson@adn.com
Published: July 24th, 2008 12:10 AM
Last Modified: July 24th, 2008 04:56 PM

The coldest summer ever? You might be looking at it, weather folks say. Right now the so-called summer of '08 is on pace to produce the fewest days ever recorded in which the temperature in Anchorage managed to reach 65 degrees.

That unhappy record was set in 1970, when we only made it to the 65-degree mark, which many Alaskans consider a nice temperature, 16 days out of 365.

This year, however -- with the summer more than half over -- there have been only seven 65-degree days so far. And that's with just a month of potential "balmy" days remaining and the forecast looking gloomy.

National Weather Service meteorologist Sam Albanese, a storm warning coordinator for Alaska, says the outlook is for Anchorage to remain cool and cloudy through the rest of July.
"There's no real warm feature moving in," Albanese said. "And that's just been the pattern we've been stuck in for a couple weeks now."

In the Matanuska Valley on Wednesday snow dusted the Chugach. On the Kenai Peninsula, rain was raising Six-Mile River to flood levels and rafting trips had to be canceled.
So if the cold and drizzle are going to continue anyway, why not shoot for a record? The mark is well within reach, Albanese said:
"It's probably going to go down as the summer with the least number of 65-degree days."
MEASURING THE MISERY

In terms of "coldest summer ever," however, a better measure might be the number of days Anchorage fails to even reach 60.

There too, 2008 is a contender, having so far notched only 35 such days -- far below the summer-long average of 88. Unless we get 10 more days of 60-degree or warmer temperatures, we're going to break the dismal 1971 record of only 46 such days, a possibility too awful to contemplate.

Still, according to a series of charts cobbled together Tuesday evening by a night-shift meteorologist in the weather service's Anchorage office, the current summer clearly has broken company with the record-setting warmth of recent years. Consider:
• 70-degree days. So far this summer there have been two. Usually there are 15. Last year there were 21. In 2004 there were 49.
• 75-degree days. So far this summer there've been zero. Usually there are four. It may be hard to remember, but last year there were 21. In 2004 there were 23.
So are all bets off on global warming? Hardly, scientists say. Climate change is a function of long-term trends, not single summers or individual hurricanes.
Last year the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change concluded that it's "unequivocal" the world is warming, considering how 11 of the warmest years on record have occurred in the past 13 years.
So what's going on in Alaska, which also posted a fairly frigid winter?
LA NINA
Federal meteorologists trace a lot of the cool weather to ocean temperatures in the South Pacific.
When the seas off the coast of Peru are 2 to 4 degrees cooler than normal, a La Nina weather pattern develops, which brings cooler-than- normal weather to Alaska.
For most of the past year, La Nina (the opposite of El Nino, in which warmer-than-normal ocean temperatures occur off Peru) has prevailed. But that's now beginning to change.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Web site, water temperatures in the eastern South Pacific began to warm this summer -- and the weather should eventually follow.

The current three-month outlook posted by the national Climate Prediction Center in Camp Springs, Md., calls for below-normal temperatures for the south coast of Alaska from August through October -- turning to above-normal temperatures from October through December.

The Cult of "Change" is spreading......

The "Mothership" has released a statement from Rene, "Dolphin Boy", Verela. It seems that the short-term resident and candidate for District 4 promises "Change." I wonder where in the world he could have gotten that campaign theme from?

The press relaease of the District Four Candidate, an obvious disciple of the Cult of Obama, is full of promises of change with little to no substance. He states: "My first priority will be to work on behalf of the public to restore their confidence in the role that government..." That sounds great but how are you going accomplish that? We have heard variations on that theme by everyone running for office in this town for the past 10 years. It's also occurred to us, that with a lack of marine mammals running around the commission chamber, how is his previous life experience going to make up for his obvious lack of knowledge and experience on city issues?

We can recall in the last election the Commissioner from District 3 promised "a cop on every block" and the Mayor promised "I'm going to have my picture and phone number next to every customer service desk in the city." Both are infamous for not returning phone calls, except to close supporters. Simply ask the struggling family in District 2 that is being man handled by the Utilities department or as we like to call it "the Chamber of Horrors." Neither official has bothered to respond to this family's phone calls or for that matter anyone else on the dais. Meanwhile they remain in the dark struggling to find a way to pay the "Public" utility for needless fees.

Much like Obama this local candidate seems to be big on promises and has left little room for substance in his release. Remember, he has lived in the city less than a year, never served on a board, and joined the Kiwanis Club of Lake Worth just two weeks ago. It would seem this conservationist, liberal media's code for environmental extremist, wants to leave the sea and start making policy on land. Our advise to you "Dolphin Boy" is that you should crawl in this town before you walk or run for anything!

Note: We also want to point out the lack of a readable disclaimer on the banner and no disclaimer on the press release. He should be more careful - someone is liable to file a complaint. We're sure he'll get a pass this time.

René Varela Declares Candidacy for District 4 Lake Worth City
Commission Seat
An Exciting New Candidate Seeks Election to Lake Worth City Commission District 4

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Contact: René A. Varela, (561) 585-8504
29 July 2008

LAKE WORTH, FL – René A. Varela declared his candidacy today for the District 4 seat on the
Lake Worth City Commission. Varela, a native and long-term resident of Florida, has a history in
State, regional and national politics and policy. He is challenging Commissioner Dave Vespo in
the upcoming November election.

Dr. Varela, a practicing marine mammal veterinarian and conservation biologist, working with
Ocean Embassy Inc. as the Chief Veterinarian and Scientist and in partnership with NOAA
Fisheries, US Fish and Wildlife Service, US Geological Survey, and several Florida State
agencies, has developed extensive experience in federal and State policy formation. He plans to
put that experience and skilled critical thinking to work for the residents of Lake Worth.
According to Varela, "My first priority will be to work on behalf of the public to restore their
confidence in the role that government can and must play in their lives. I will also work hard to
once again place people at the center of all city decision making and help create an environment
in which our community can flourish and residents and local business owners can prosper." He
continues, “together with the citizens of this city, I will change the current pattern of unchecked
spending of our tax dollars, deterioration of essential services, and absence of critical review of
city contracts. It will take nothing short of these measures to restore the public’s trust in our
government. This is genuine change that we all can believe.”

This is Varela's first run for public office. Varela has worked on several national and regional
political campaigns, as well as on current aggressive voter registration and education efforts. He
is also an active member of several political and community services organizations locally and in
the County. His intention is to harness the honest and hard-working values that all caring Lake
Worth residents share, to move the city from what it is today, toward what it should be in the
future. As Varela states: “I intend to be Lake Worth’s Voice for Change--a positive, sorely
needed, and unifying change.”

Varela is in the process of completing his campaign team and has recently appointed Sam
Goodstein as Treasurer. He will be visiting with as many Lake Worth residents as possible. If
you wish to speak with the candidate, you can call him at (561) 585-8504, or email him at
varela4LW4@gmail.com.

Mary Lindsey's Campaign site....?

Our researchers have discovered Mary Lindsey's Domain:

http://marylindsey.net/

Could this be the future home of her campaign website?

Only time can tell.

It was bought with a private registration on 10/17/07. If this is Ms. Lindsey future campaign site then she has been planning to run for office since at least last October of last year (Contrary to statements made since last October in public and on other blog's until she filied last week). We also found the color of the page humours. Green, like the money she so desperately thinks will change the result of this race as opposed to her last (4% of the vote).

It makes us wonder if all that running around she did this summer was to help her community or just to help herself?

Obama Appears in Skies over Lake Worth

As many of you are already aware, the members of the League are closely tracking alien movements in Lake Worth, Florida.

Two of our members, while looking for transmission antenna's hidden in the canopy of the Invasive "Champion Tree," were presented with an awesome site. Barack Obama's face appeared before them in the heavens. The two members, who wish to remain unnamed, scrambled to get out their cameras to document this momentous occasion and where able to capture this image.

If you look closely you can see Barack's face and the alien craft ducking for cover behind the cloud formation.

We can only assume that that our local illegal visitors are following the mainstream media in their shameless endorsement, we mean coverage, of the Democratic Nominee for President. "Mothership" media which is the extraterrestrials embodiment of Fox News style "Fair and Balanced" reporting, really threw caution to wind by projecting his image against the cloud formation. What type of original and new technologies must they posses? Lets all dig deep into our pockets so that they can transmit more propaganda, we mean information, directly to us all. This action by the "Mothership" also serves to confirm our worst fears that impartial network coverage of the last 100 days of the election is an impossibility.
I hope these are not the kinds of changes we can expect to see under a government lead by President Obama. The media is our last best defense against tyranny and oppression. We need to demand that anyone claiming to be a "Media" outlet provide information without a cooperate spin or colt doctrine. Just report the news because we are smart enough to form are own opinions.

Forget it.....(to hard for most we're sure)

Simpler plan, just stock up on all that hope Obama seems to be selling because we are sure as hell going to need it!

VIRGIN GALACTIC ROLLS OUT MOTHERSHIP “EVE”

WhiteKnightTwo launch vehicle for SpaceShipTwo heralds a new era in aerospace fuel efficiency, performance and versatility

Mojave Air and Spaceport, California
July 28th 2008

Virgin Founder, Sir Richard Branson and SpaceShipOne designer, Burt Rutan, today pulled back the hangar doors on the new WhiteKnightTwo (WK2) carrier aircraft that will ferry SpaceShipTwo and thousands of private astronauts, science packages and payload on the first stage of the Virgin Galactic sub-orbital space experience.

The rollout represents another major milestone in Virgin Galactic’s quest to launch the world’s first private, environmentally benign, space access system for people, payload and science.

Christened “EVE” in honor of Sir Richard’s mother, who performed the official naming ceremony, WK2 is both visually remarkable and represents ground-breaking aerospace technology. It is the world’s largest all carbon composite aircraft and many of its component parts have been built using composite materials for the very first time. At 140 ft, the wing spar is the longest single carbon composite aviation component ever manufactured.

Driven by a demanding performance specification set by Virgin Galactic, WK2 has a unique heavy lift, high altitude capability and an open architecture driven design which provides for maximum versatility in the weight, mass and volume of its payload potential. It has the power, strength and maneuverability to provide for pre space-flight, positive G force and zero G astronaut training as well as a lift capability which is over 30% greater than that represented by a fully crewed SpaceShipTwo. The vehicle has a maximum altitude over 50,000 ft and its U.S. coast-to-coast range will allow the spaceship to be ferried on long duration flights.

An all carbon composite vehicle of this size represents a giant leap for a material technology that has already been identified as a key contributor to the increasingly urgent requirement by the commercial aviation sector for dramatically more fuel efficient aircraft. Powered by four Pratt and Whitney PW308A engines, which are amongst the most powerful, economic and efficient available, WK2 is a mold breaker in carbon efficiency and the epitome of 21st century aerospace design and technology.

The twin fuselage and central payload area configuration allow for easy access to WK2 and to the spaceship for passengers and crew; the design also aids operational efficiencies and turnaround times. WK2 will be able to support up to four daily space flights, is able to carry out both day and night time operations and is equipped with a package of highly advanced avionics.

Large numbers of VIP’s, media and more than 100 fully signed-up future Virgin Galactic astronauts flew into Mojave for the rollout onboard a new Airbus A320 aircraft specially chartered from Virgin America, the youngest and most efficient US domestic airline, which launched to great acclaim in 2007.

Rutan’s Scaled Composites facility has been strictly out of bounds whilst design and construction has been underway, but guests today were additionally given a tantalizing preview of SpaceShipTwo, clearly visible but heavily shrouded and well on its way to completion, in the smaller of Scaled’s two hangars awaiting its own rollout in 2009. This will be scheduled once WK2 is at the appropriate stage in its extensive test program, which has already begun with ground tests; it is expected to take its first flight in the fall of 2008. The flight test program will be comprehensive even before SpaceShipTwo is carried as a payload for the first time in 2009.

Commenting on the rollout, Burt Rutan, Founder of Scaled Composites said:

“WhiteKnightTwo represents the apogee of the application of carbon composites to aerospace and all of us at Scaled are tremendously excited at the capabilities of the Mothership for SpaceShipTwo. I believe the vehicle will be developed and sold for a variety of launch applications beyond the initial requirements of our launch customer, Virgin Galactic. We have set up a new business jointly with Virgin, The Spaceship Company (TSC), to develop these vehicles and we very much hope that its efficiency will herald a wake up call to the aerospace industry and the necessity of using new materials and technologies in the future. “

Sir Richard Branson, Founder of Virgin Galactic added:

“As usual, Burt and the Scaled team have created a beauty and this is a very proud day for us all. The rollout of WhiteKnightTwo takes the Virgin Galactic vision to the next level and continues to provide tangible evidence that this most ambitious of projects is not only for real but is making tremendous progress towards our goal of safe commercial operation.

Virgin Galactic is central to our ambition at Virgin to become the world’s leading group in the operation of energy and environmentally efficient transportation, in the air, on the ground and in space. We arrived here this morning on an aircraft operated by Virgin America, who run the most fuel efficient commercial fleet in the US, to roll out what by most definitions, is the most energy efficient aircraft in history. We are naming it EVE after my Mother, Eve Branson but also because it represents a first and a new beginning, the chance for our ever growing group of future astronauts and other scientists and payload specialists to see our world in a completely new light. I for one can’t wait!”

Blast from the Past...

Mary Lindsey's first run for office yielded impressive results...

Lake Worth -- 14 of 14 precincts reporting (100%)
Mayor
Jeff Clemens 1,786 48%
Marc Drautz 1,526 41%
Mary Lindsey 156 4%
John Jordan 110 3%
William D. Coakley 82 2%
Andrew "Drewkowski" Procyk 27 1%
(source: http://www.palmbeachpost.com/localnews/content/news/primary_results.html)

We are looking forward to seeing the difference money will make. Cara Jennings was out spent ten-to-one by her last opponent. Mary, remember money can't change the fact that you:

Screamed at countless commission meetings about the voltage...

Sued the City to force them to conduct a study on the electric utility...

City then stops the electric upgrade to conduct your study...

Study reveals nothing new...

City never completes upgrade...

Net Result: Mary Lindsey was instrumental in wasting tax payer money with nothing to show for it. Every time you're sitting in the dark just ask Mary why?

Great work! Your research really payed off for us all!

‘Carbon scrubber’ could slow Global Warming?

“Carbon scrubber” could remove CO2 from the air

By Eoin O'Carroll 06.02.08

(source: http://features.csmonitor.com/environment/2008/06/02/carbon-scrubber-could-remove-co2-from-the-air/)

A group of US scientists has made a breakthrough in developing “carbon scrubbers” to remove excess CO2 from the atmosphere.
Led by Columbia University physicist Klaus Lackner and backed by a private company in Tuscon, Ariz., called Global Research Technologies, the team is working to build a giant “tree” that draws in air and passes it over an ion exchange membrane that traps the carbon dioxide. The gas could then be deposited underground, pumped into a greenhouse where it would help plants grow, or put to some other use.

The scientists say the device could remove about one ton of CO2 per day from the atmosphere. The average American produces about 20 tons of carbon dioxide each year, contributing to a total worldwide output of about 27 billion tons annually.
Scientists have speculated about such devices for a few years now (the BBC documented Lackner’s efforts in early 2003), but were unable to find an inexpensive way of separating the trapped carbon from the absorber membrane. But the Guardian, which obtained one of Lackner’s team’s patent applications, reports that the scientists have recently discovered that passing humid air over the membranes causes them to “exhale” carbon dioxide. This development, say scientists, reduce the scrubber’s energy use “tenfold.”
The June issue of Smithsonian Magazine features a Q&A with Wallace Broecker, one of the lead scientists on this project. Broecker, the Columbia university climate expert who was the first to coin the term “global warming” in the 1970s, describes a device “about 6 to 10 feet in diameter, 50 feet high … like a little silo, in that shape so the wind could blow through it from any direction.”
He says that we would need roughly 17 million of these scrubbers to take care of carbon emissions from the United States. While they could operate anywhere, they would work best in deserts, Broecker says. That works out to about 60 million or so around the world. While that sounds like a lot, Broecker believes that carbon scrubbing may be our only hope, as humanity will need to continue burning fossil fuels for the short term.
I don’t think anybody believes that alternatives will supply the energy we’ll need. The long-term solution is solar electricity. But it is far too expensive—there have to be breakthroughs. If they were to occur in the next 10 or 20 years, great, we could put the whole CO2-capture idea on the shelf. But we have to develop that technology, because it looks right now like solar energy is not going to become affordable in that time scale. We are going to need some way to bail ourselves out.
We have enough coal to run the planet for several hundred years. We could make gasoline out of coal for the equivalent of $50 a barrel. People are not going to use solar energy if it costs 10 times more than energy derived from coal. We are not putting enough resources into developing the technology to capture and store carbon. Everybody is worried about carbon footprints as if that is a solution. It’s not. It is important, I’m not putting that down, but conservation in itself can’t do it. The world has to run on energy.
According to the Guardian story, the team plans to demonstrate a prototype within two years.
The device could be eligible for Richard Branson’s Virgin Earth Challenge prize, a competition offering $25 million to whoever can come up with a way to remove at least one billion tons of carbon dioxide a year from Earth’s atmosphere.

Are You Fired Up About Gas Prices?

Are You Fired Up About Gas Prices?

By the time you read this posting, the price of gas may already have reached an historic national average of $4.00 per gallon. And the truth is, that number will only continue to climb over the summer months. Not everyone is torn up or concerned about the high price of gas, though. The Democrat-controlled Congress seems perfectly content for Americans to pay upwards of $4/gallon or even $5/gallon at the pump by the end of the year. Perhaps Democrats consider expensive fuel the best tool for behavior modification – keep gas prices high and Americans will be forced, by financial necessity, to consume less. What else could explain the absurd action this week by House Democrats to both restrict and decrease domestic exploration, despite the 57 percent of Americans who have told Congress that they support exploring domestic resources of energy in order to help bring down the rising cost of gas? Americans are being forced to sacrifice their wallets and their freedom because of a Democrat ideology that refuses to accept the simple notion of more energy now, cleaner energy over time.

Last year, Republicans proposed an energy bill to:

Increase the supply of oil in America

Encourage conservation

Promote alternative energy production from wind, nuclear, natural gas and other alternative forms of energy

It’s up to Congress to authorize the exploration of proven energy reserves on public lands. It’s up to Congress to extend tax credits to businesses using solar and wind power. And it’s up to Congress to offer incentives to Americans who conserve energy and voluntarily reduce consumption. Are you fired up about energy prices? Tell us why by clicking here.

Increasing our energy supply is as much about increasing our own personal freedom as it is about bringing down the high price of fuel. Republicans are going to continue to fight the battle to increase the supply domestic energy until Democrats are forced to take up the issue and have an open debate in full view of the American people. If you support this cause, please go here and sign the petition to make gas cheaper now.

Former Mayor turned Parking-Lot Goalie

The Lake Worth Herald is reporting that Ron Exline, former Mayor and tactical officer of the "Mothership" bridge crew, could face 90 days of jail time and a $500 fine for a reckless driving charge.

Mr. Exline claims, "All my driving was within four feet and on private property." Mistakenly thinking he was at the helm of his galactic marauder Exline pursued the human teens on skate boards who tried to flee the property in a car. The police report stated that:

"(Excline's C.O.P. vehicle), was stopped facing south in a parking lot of the 3200 block of Cynthia Lane. Vehicle 2 approached. Exline's car then proceeded to travel south in an attempt to block vehicle 2 from leaving the property. V-1 misjudged the time and distance between V-1 and V-2, and did not stop in time causing the front of V-1 to impact the passenger side of V-2."

It would seem that without the on board computer giving Exline range and speed information that that the steering of the "City Vehicle" proved far too challenging for the former Mayor. According to the Herald Article, a police officer stated the role of a Citizen on Patrol (C.O.P.) is "to observe and report, NEVER CONFRONT." What the police don't know is that the rubber of skate board tires are toxic to alien's should they come in contact with them. The grinding of the wheels causes the rubber to heat and the toxic fumes to become airborne, which can be fatal to aliens. With phone calls pouring in from other off world visitors Exline had to act causing him to use a "City Vehicle" like an alien goalie on wheels.

We tried to contact the "Mothership" for comment but E.T. won't phone home.....

"Fat Bastard" Calls it Quits

It would seem that Jim Stafford has called it quits and the scramble is on to do damage control.

We suggest for a good laugh you visit "Mothership" Media where the alien baker is desperately trying to walk away from his volumes of negative attack comments. Fear not alien baker, we have every word saved for posterity. Although, there is descent amongst the bridge crew of the mothership, some would like to see the pies put into the oven by the alien baker become part of the mythology of Lake Worth. They want to see those B.S. filled pastries become fact. That's to bad for you alien baker.

Back to Jim. It seems to us that the "Fat Bastard" has removed his collar and the bull dog has awoken from his nap. (NOT A GOOD THING) Current Alien rhetoric describes him as "a smut peddler" or "the Larry Flint of Lake Worth" if that's true than this is a very poor development for the mothership. The league believes the best place for him was tied up running his own election. Being a candidate would have severely limited his ability to slash and burn. Now free to be a privateer working for the highest bidder, as other blogs have suggested, he could get nasty.
Let's hope for everyones sake he really is leaving town!

HOMETOWN DEMOCRACY SCRAMBLES TO COLLECT PETITIONS

HOMETOWN DEMOCRACY SCRAMBLES TO COLLECT PETITIONS

Hires more paid gatherers; raises price to $3 per signature (ORLANDO, FL - July 24, 2008) For a group that says it has already submitted enough petitions, Florida Hometown Democracy is spending a lot of time and money paying for more. An e-mail from Hometown Democracy leader John Hedrick confirms that the initiative campaign is now paying $3 per signature in a desperate attempt to collect 611,009 petitions before a possible court date in August. Although amendment leaders claimed they had already submitted enough petitions, their frantic effort to collect more signatures proves otherwise.

"Clearly, they didn't have as many as they claimed," said Ryan Houck, Executive Director for Floridians for Smarter Growth. "Hometown Democracy spent months criticizing the state's official petition count. It turns out that they were the ones with the wrong numbers."

In June, Hometown Democracy organizers filed a lawsuit in federal court to obtain placement on the 2008 ballot after failing to qualify on three prior occasions. Their lawsuit would overturn a voter-approved constitutional amendment establishing a February 1st petition deadline for citizen initiatives. As recently as July 2, Florida Hometown Democracy President Lesley Blackner claimed that her group had collected enough valid signatures to get on the ballot.

"If they had enough signatures prior to the deadline then why are they paying for more now?" said Houck. "Hometown Democracy fell short on February 1. Since then, we've seen the Ides of March, April Showers, May Flowers and a sizzling summer but still not enough petitions from Florida Hometown Democracy. This latest stunt is no more than a cynical attempt to convince the court that they've met their goal more than half a year later."###

"Sandy, the Spooky Ghost" caught on tape!

Update: "Sandy, the Spooky Ghost"

Beach Spook Update:

Our reporter at the beach caught another snap shot of the Lake Worth Beach and Casino phantom. We have documented multiple orbs flying round the casino building in this picture. The picture even reveals the outline of a phantom's face on one of the corroding support columns. We are in the process of starting a petition drive to collect signatures to stop and preserve this remnant of Lake Worth charm. We understand how important keeping such a spooky habitat intact is to you and your family. We have established communications with other groups that share the same goal of saving this pristine phantom habitat that the Casino appears to be. Help save our phantom, which we have affectionately named "Sandy, the Spooky Ghost". Since we appreciate our sand as being even better than Palm Beach's sand, we thought that was an appropriate name. Like the sand on our beach, "Sandy, the Spooky Ghost" is a true treasure and part of our cities charm that must be saved.

Remember to donate liberally and as often as possible because we need our ion detectors to proceed with our investigation. Watch for future reports as we try to communicate one-on-one with "Sandy".

What are your thoughts on the Lake Worth and the County laying a water pipe through your home.

"Well man as long as they don't mess those sweet jet fumes who cares..."

Won't the presence of all that equipment bother you?

"Man we live next to an airport! Again, it's all about those sweet fumes..."

Are you sure it won't be problem?

"Yo man...your like totally killing my buzz. I just got a crazy idea. Take your camera and run!

Why?

"LearJet....Sweet!"

Greater Bay Put Down Your Wrecking Ball

Greater Bay Put Down Your Wrecking Ball

By the Scarlet Pimpernel

The Pimpernel Gazette has discovered a phantom-like object at Lake Worth Beach. As shown in our exclusively secured photo, it appears as a green glowing silhouette in a very likely place - what would be a person standing in the infamous line waiting for an expensive and sumptuous all cash meal at John G's.

All plans to redevelop the beach must be halted until government specialists are called all over the county, especially those in Tallahassee, to determine the significance of this oddity.

We have already determined through independent and confidential research, upon after consulting with experts, which wish not to be named, that this phenomenon must be studied further before the building is demolished. The nameless experts believe that the aberration could be trying to send us an important message. In the past we have driven across the state to photograph phantom for sale signs. Now our 72 hour stakeout of the beach has uncovered an important reason why the Casino Building should be left standing. We have done the research and plenty of unnamed experts agree with the editorial view of this publication that nothing should be torn down, much less disturbed, until we better understand who is potentially haunting the Casino Building and why.

In an effort to further the investigation, we urge you to donate liberally to our cause. We will be acquiring about twenty hand held Ion Detectors that will be used by our inner circle - those that are used to working with controls during our City Commission telekinesis experiments. These ion detectors possess excellent sensitivity, fully electromagnetically shielded and can take accurate readings even under adverse conditions. This device can be adjusted to measure positive, or in paranormal investigation cases, negative ions separately. Much like with an electro-magnetic field detector, the ions in the air will measure a high disturbance when spirit energy is present. This device is great for investigations also because it is sensitive to natural effects like radiation, electrical storms and radon.... thus, is not easily disturbed by power outlets.

So, please give generously as the next stage of our investigation hinges on your donations. We will continue to give you your opinion on this issue as our investigation continues...

CITY SUFFERS FROM UNUSUAL "PAIR" DISEASE.

We saw this post on Lake Worth Talk Message Board and found it very funny. It's too bad that lazy slob has stopped doing anything on that site.

Thank You "DSP" for allowing us to post it here!

A strange disease has been identified in the City of Lake Worth. It appears to affect only the population belonging to two distinct groups and expresses itself in specific symptoms. Identified some time ago, the malady takes its name from the two groups known as the "Pair." It seems to be a cyclical infection, carried in a constant benign state, but flaring up in response to the election cycle, and peaking to epidemic proportions and frenzied reactions as election day approaches. There is no known cure.
While authorities disagree on the origin and exact causes ot this disease, it appears to be a mental condition, often approaching paranoia, with its roots in the philosophical/political identity of the carriers. The variants of the disease are strikingly different in the members of each part of the pair, creating a wide disparity between the two.
Symptoms of the malady are best seen as expressed in a number of ways the carriers have devised to talk about the disease, such as websites, talkboards, blogs (blogging can often be confused with "flogging" of the verbal sort), clandestine (hopefuly) emails, private group meetings, vitriolic exchanges in public meetings, concocted news releases, flyers, signs, and occasional litigation. The exchanges and postings range from verbal abuse, accusations and name-calling to the very rare and infrequent logical discussions between less afflicted members of the Pair.
The attitude of one part of the pair to the other is analogous to language construction: "I despair, we despair" (says one part looking at attitudes of the other), and the other part responds gleefully "you despair, they despair".
A large part of the city's population is not afflicted by the "Pair" disease, and tends to avoid contact with the two groups, particularly at peak outbreaks of the disease around election day. It is assumed that the philosophical identity of this segment of the population is "I despair of the Pair."

Lake Worth: the next gay mecca?

Click here for the latest B.M. from Cara Jenning's public relations machine.

Here is letter from a justifiably irate Lake Worth citizen in response:

Dear Express Editor,

This is in response to the letter that appeared in your July 17, 2008 edition “Lake Worth: the next gay Mecca?” I am gay and live with my long term partner in one of Lake Worth’s historic neighborhoods. While it is true that many gay and lesbian people live in Lake Worth, I took exception with two main parts of the letter.

First of all, Commissioner Cara Jennings is not the gay friendly “Wonder-Commissioner” that the writer makes her out to be. Sure, she may be attending her sister’s commitment ceremony – but she is her sister. Commissioner Jennings courted the gay community in the city when she ran in 2006. She made some appearances at local gay establishments, but sent her sister to the local lesbian bar on her behalf. She was never seen there. She and her campaign made ample use of the Compass gay and lesbian center computers during that campaign. When it came down to discuss a proposal for the relocation of the same Compass gay and lesbian center to a city-owned building, she offered her tacit support prior to the issue coming for a vote, but then voted “no” once the matter came before the Commission. She won’t be using their computers again for this campaign, that’s for sure.

How about the timing of this letter to the editor? Commissioner Jennings is many things, but one thing that she is not is dumb. She has a small army of operatives that act in a multitude of ways to convey her has a caring and compassionate Commissioner. This letter is nothing but a weak attempt to ingratiate herself to the gay community. Ask her neighborhood association about how unresponsive she has been regarding code enforcement issues in her district and you will get the real picture of this Commissioner. She is overly absorbed by causes outside of Lake Worth, rather than acting for the residents of Lake Worth that she is supposed to represent.

The second part of the letter that offended me was the following section:

“Like someone said in something I read recently, gays tend to be very creative, talented, care for their property and do a lot for their communities, they are usually very educated and wealthy too…”

Can we talk about stereotypes here? Exchange any other minority with the word “gays” and most would be offended. Let’s dispense with the broad generalizations about what it means to be gay and the type of behaviors that are “typical”.

Yes, there are many gay and lesbians living in Lake Worth. Lake Worth has many assets as a community that people of all types find attractive. Following the course laid by Commissioner Jennings would only deter quality people of all sorts from choosing to relocate here. Please do not give her the free publicity and never mention her name again in your newspaper.

Mothership Media: Is it a PAC?

Does "Mothership Media" fit Florida's definition of a P.A.C.?

The state of Florida defines a P.A.C. (Political Action Committee) in section 106.011 as:

1. A combination of two or more individuals, or a person other than an individual, that, in an aggregate amount in excess of $500 during a single calendar year:

(Mothership Media is currently seeking donations)

b. Accepts contributions for the purpose of expressly advocating the election or defeat of a candidate or the passage or defeat of an issue;

(Mothership Media is actively trying to push the Water Issue using the slogan "Our City, Our Tax, Our Water)

c. Makes expenditures that expressly advocate the election or defeat of a candidate or the passage or defeat of an issue

(Mothership Media spends money on servers and streaming to influence readers on Water issue)

Lake Worth, FL- February 16th 2005-

Community activist, panagioti e. tsolkas, will begin campaigning this week for Mayor of Lake Worth. Although well-known locally for slandering realtors, developers, and politicians, confrontation is only part of his strategy. A focus of the campaign will be on promoting skills for increased self-sufficiency, sustainability and community interdependence- what global social movements, such as the Zapatistas of Chiapas, Mexico have called building autonomy.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: whenever

ANARCHY IN LAKE WORTH!?!Mayoral candidate runs campaign to expose developers’ greed and promote community autonomy

Lake Worth, FL- February 16th 2005- Community activist, panagioti e. tsolkas, will begin campaigning this week for Mayor of Lake Worth.

“I have no intention of being a politician- I’m not a good enough liar, I don’t claim to represent anyone else’s agenda and I can hardly stomach being in the room with realtors and developers,” writes panagioti, “but if I can spread ideas that help take decision making power out of the hands of the local elite and inspire folks to take control over their own neighborhoods… then we could get things done- no politicians required!” Panagioti is suggesting to residents that we scrap the entire police force and code enforcement team. In fact,he is suggesting to residents that the city even take steps to distance itself from centralized governments and capitalist economies altogether.

“The façade of order and control imposed by those institutions has crippled our sense of responsibility to our communities and our instinctive tendency to take care of each other. For example, the real estate front group Lake Worth Alliance for Progress and Preservation best exemplifies the forces that are guiding Lake Worth- they have placed a seriously disproportionate priority on increasing property values and expanding the tax base, claiming that the trickle-down from more tax is the best way to meet residents’ needs. But that is the leading myth driving the ‘dictatorship of the developers’ in South Florida. If those folks really cared about people’s needs over property values, there wouldn’t be the conflict that is growing so fast in Lake Worth, and in many other cities across South Florida. We need to break from that tired old mentality of tax and charity/law and order, so we can start making space for creative solutions to the crisis situations we have come to tolerate as inevitable growing pains: from the glaring problems of gentrification, privatizing public space, overdevelopment, traffic and infrastructure strains, to the less visible pollution, malnutrition, slumlords, gang violence and domestic abuse.”

For details on how some of these changes would look in practice, check out two documents: (1) What A Free Lake Worth Might Look Like and (2) Downward Mobility 11 Point Plan, available on http://www.downwardmobilitylw.org/ Call (561) 547-6686 for printed versions (Spanish translations are also available.)

So what does anarchy have to do with it? Anarchy is defined most simply as the absence of authority and coercion. Re-stated in the positive- it can be described simply as the presence of organic, mutual relationships between all things. Although it can’t be lumped easily within an ideological box, lots of people throughout recent history have used anarchist theory to explain their participation in social movements favoring equality, cooperation, generosity and respect for the environment.

“Labor justice, civil rights, women’s liberation, anti-fascism, land reform, immigrant solidarity, ecology, and anti-nuclear movements; revolutions and rebellions against dictatorships, monarchies and colonial powers… All have had anarchists play major roles throughout them- maybe Central Palm Beach County will be ground zero for the next global upheaval. Why the hell not?”

Panagioti is available for interviews. Please give ample prior notice. He will be present at local candidate’s forums and will be coordinating a public event on the weekend of March 5th. Details TBA.

Hey, folks… This is a Bio for panagioti e. tsolkas, runnin’ for Mayor of the city currently known as Lake Worth. I have no professional resume, but I’ll offer some background info and the campaign platform, press release etc.

I’m 24 years old, was born in Framingham, Massachusetts to an upwardly mobile Greek immigrant family. My mom’s parents were kinda of hillbilly-types from Sparti. Her father fought with the communist guerillas in the civil war after WW2, he likes to make his own wine from his own grapes and drink A LOT of it. My dad’s folks are from Kalamata. His father fought for the State military and supported the Greek monarchy. My own father preferred the CIA imposed dictatorship, since it seemed to allow for more financial opportunities that than the looming prospect of commie takeover. My memories of both grandmothers usually have something to do with them chasing chickens, milking goats, collecting dandelions, cooking rabbit, etc. Most of my extended family live on the same block in Kalamata in houses that would never pass a code inspection in Lake Worth. My parents moved to the Tampa area when I was four years old.
I have worked odd jobs most of my working life: telemarketing, cashier, painting, random day labor, consumer research and medical studies, busking (street performance), stripping, small press book distribution, gardening, childcare, and art modeling. I got kicked out of East Lake High School… twice (once for protesting the FCAT) and never looked back to institutional education. I traveled on and off for several years, hitchhiking and riding freight trains across the country and learning the tools and tactics of radical, grassroots activism. I chased around a person I had fallen in love with and it landed me in Lake Worth about 5 years ago.
Rumor has it that I live off a trust fund. I heard the rumor was started by the former Mayor and current Chamber of Commerce stooge Tom Ramiccio. It’s not true. I live on a very low budget, eat a lot of food out of the trash and share financial responsibilities with a group of friends. Anyone interested in the details of my finances can take me out to dinner and I’ll tell you all about ‘em.

My perspectives on local/global issues are expressed pretty thoroughly in the attached documents.

I volunteer time to various local projects and organizations, such as: Chief Sitting Bull Community Organic Garden, Palm Beach Global Justice Group, PBC/TC Stop FTAA Coalition, 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence, Palm Beach County 4-Hand, Taking Aim: Anarchist Media Collective, Dorothy Day Food Distribution, Arts For Everyone, and PBC Environmental Coalition. I have also been involved in Earth First!, a globally networked radical environmental movement, for near 7 nears. I was also recently selected to serve as an alternate member of the tree board of Lake Worth.

Kick out the greedy developers,Dismantle the corrupt political structure,Find useful work for the local law enforcers,Throw the codebooks into the beach bonfire,Secede from the U.$. Empire, don’t expect real change from an election.Go do something helpful for your neighbor.Plant a couple fruiting trees or bushes.Take over an abandoned house…tell the bank and realtor that they can’t have it back, then open a free child care center there.
Lake Worth Downward Mobility 11 Point Plan

1) Name Change We don’t need to honor that greedy, racist, murderer, General William Jenkins Worth anymore. No treaties were ever signed for this land. It was stolen (as if land can be owned at all) and desecrated beyond our comprehension. A simple name change could be the start of a larger shift towards justice and accountability. Perhaps Jewel would work. That was what this area was known as, honoring the escaped slaves that squatted here before white real estate owners chopped up the land into parcels to be bought and sold.

2) Disband The Police Ok, it sounds a little scary to some of ya’ll, but in reality the police only succeed in stopping a very small portion of crime. It would probably take you a while to realize they were gone, except for maybe noticing the absence of that nervous anxiety every time you pass one of them. What these legal thugs have done quite efficiently is maintain serious social divisions. Without police to interfere, perhaps poor folks would stop robbing each other and instead steal from those who are hoarding too much stuff. In a new Lake Worth, we have no laws to protect your greed. Share what you have or risk losing it to someone who doesn’t have what they need. Seems like an easy decision to me.

3) Ditch Code Enforcement Much the same idea above applies to code officials. They only catch a handful of corrupt landlords. Most often they come down on homeowners and small-scale property owners, who then often take it out on their tenants. Where is the fairness, justice or law & order in that?! Let’s get rid of ‘em! Come on, let’s at least try it for a while. Maybe it will encourage neighbors to talk to each other instead of ratting on each other, and it would definitely stop those scum-bag realtors, like Bo Allen, from using his friends in Code to help him flip properties for the Pier Group.

4) Massive Overhaul of Priorities This one is a little more theoretical than it is practical, but there needs to be a very strong suggestion that we no longer strive to ‘keep up with the Joneses’. This community is blessed with the presence of immigrants, many torn from families to escape severe poverty or political repression. They should not be expected to keep up with this insane & materialistic society. No one should. On the contrary, we will seek advice from folks who have recent experience with living in land-based communities, especially in the Caribbean and Meso-American areas that have similar climates and seasons. Small-scale tropical agriculture and simple, more sustainable building techniques are often utilized in ‘less developed’ countries. Thatched roofs, backyard horticulture, composting toilets, rain catchment systems… Let’s figure out how we can incorporate those kinds of things into our city planning. (If you combine # 2 and #4, you get the “more chickens, less pigs” initiative)

5) Decentralization & Autonomy We let the city split up into functional neighborhood associations that do more than kiss ass at city commission meetings to get new landscape for their street medians. The goal is to strive towards community support networks for more self-reliance. Childcare cooperatives, food exchanges, tool/toy lending libraries, free bike/car repair shops. Mutual aid, solidarity, get the picture? (perhaps ‘neighborhood assembly’ is a better phrase- like what they used in Argentina, after the economic collapse of 2001. Remember that? no!? well then, go look it up already!)

6) Secede From The U.S. Government In opposition to war and terrorism, and for our own good, we should secede ASAP and make it clear to those being devastated by war and greed-based foreign policy that we do not support the regime of the U.S. Empire. [editor’s note: I actually don’t support the regime of any nation-state but I’m trying to be practical here, ok?] Your question- “What will we do after a disaster without FEMA?!” We may have more international aid than we know what to do with. Sorry if this is gonna burst anyone’s bubble, but the vast majority of the world despises the U.S.- ‘our country’ has set up military bases and corporate sweatshops around the globe. If we in Lake Worth were the first folks to take a bold step away from it, we may be surprised what kind of international support and encouragement we would find.

7) Cut Ties To Global Capitalism The so-called Free Market is killing the entire planet. As corrupt and power-hungry as governments may appear, they are often only the puppets to corporate interests. Free Trade agreements around the world are trying to deal the final blow to the last wild places and sustainable cultures left alive, but resistance has been creeping out of the cracks all over the place. People are coming up with cooperative, autonomous alternatives to capitalism. Some people in Lake Worth are already part of those movements. The more they grow, the more the inspiration spreads. We can pass resolutions against these corporate plans, publicly withdraw our consent and openly nurture the growth of healthier paths into the future.

8) Local Department of Homestead Security (D.H.S.) After we secede from the nation, fire the police and code enforcement, smash capitalism, decentralize decision making power, and turn city hall into a free day care center, we can get back to more useful work in the community by helping to initiate a local D.H.S.- no politicians required! ‘Homesteading’ generally refers to the simple act of taking unused land and making use of it. The first step will be putting city owned property to use. It’s already ours, so let’s use it! Empty lots become parks and gardens, abandoned houses become lived in. Next, when we gain some courage, we go for the neglected, speculated private property (look out John Rice). If we have places to live, land to grow food and medicine and supportive neighborhoods, who cares which loudmouth white guy tries to hop into the abandoned mayor’s chair next? We won’t need him! This is a crucial part of mending the deep wounds of conquest and colonization that we are the heirs of.

9) Dismantle Civilization If were gonna try digging up the roots of our social problems, we should be thorough and have some long term vision, right? A couple thousand years ago, some humans made a serious wrong turn. ‘Adam and Eve’ was one of the popular fables explaining what went down, but today we have a more solid grasp on human history and it shows countless bloodbaths and famines as evidence that civilization building (meaning industrial agriculture, urbanization, surplus economies, political hierarchy, etc.) was a bad idea, a mistake. Of course we can’t go back, but we should be able acknowledge or errors, learn from mistakes and try to move on. There’s a lot of important work to do in making our communities more cooperative and sustainable- for our own sake as well as the sake of the planet. The first 95% of our species’ development might be a good place to look for inspiration and useful skills.

10) Do Something. Politicians don’t solve our problems, our direct day-to-day actions do. For things to change, people need to stop blindly following the status quo. This is a wake up call…Y’all ready to get up yet?!

HERE'S THE ANTI-HOMETOWN DEMOCRACY AD WE'D LIKE TO SEE

Hometown Democracy advocates have launched a federal lawsuit to force their way onto the November 2008 ballot. They've got a hearing coming up, so I'm certain they'll be flying in out-of-state petitioners and buying tons of signatures in the weeks ahead to help make their case.
